The company strives for energy-efficient production and makes conscious choices, such as reducing cardboard in packaging and improving certifications for sustainability. As many natural ingredients as possible are also used in the products. “This way we not only improve quality, but also make the products more appealing to a wide audience,” Gabrie says.
“No day is the same,” he explains enthusiastically. “It remains a creative and technical challenge, where I am constantly innovating and improving.” With a year and a half left until his retirement, Gabrie looks back on his years at Le Duc with pride and remains committed to bringing new ideas to life.
Gabrie van Dam: Senior Product Developer at Le Duc
Gabrie van Dam, Senior Product Developer at Le Duc, grew up in the Bollenstreek region as one of eight children. After his education at the State University for Food Technology in Bolsward - formerly the Higher Dairy School - he started his career with the dream of becoming a beer brewer. He eventually found his passion in the snack industry and has now been working at Le Duc for nearly 14 years, translating customer ideas into flavorful products. His personal favorite? The Camembert Bites, an enduring success among many customers!
In his role, Gabrie creates new snacks and adapts existing products to meet changing taste trends. “It remains a challenge every time to create something that tastes good and is also practical in production,” he says. In addition to his focus on taste, he considers technical feasibility and price. For example, he experiments with different textures and preparation methods, making the products suitable for both deep fryer, oven and airfryer. “Every customer has unique requirements. For me, making the translation from kitchen experiment to production line is one of the most enjoyable parts of my job,” he adds.
